1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Steplock: the iPhone app, Apple Watch app and widgets, desktop apps for macOS, Linux and Windows, the Chrome extension and steplock.imbored.fun (together, the "Service"), operated by Alessandro Zambon ("Steplock", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. The service
Steplock helps you limit distracting apps, games and websites by keeping them blocked until you reach a step goal, earn time by walking, or a schedule you set allows them. Blocking relies on features provided by your operating system and browser (such as Apple's Screen Time APIs). We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't guarantee that every app or site will always be blocked, that step counts reported by your device are accurate, or that the Service will be available without interruption.
Steplock never blocks phone or emergency calls. You are responsible for making sure that anything you need for work, safety or health is not on your blocklist, or is covered by a free schedule.
3. Health & safety
Steplock is a self-control and motivation tool, not a medical device, and doesn't provide medical advice. Talk to a doctor before significantly increasing your physical activity, especially if you have a health condition. Always walk somewhere safe, pay attention to traffic and your surroundings, and never use Steplock in a way that puts you or others at risk.
4. Your account
You need an account to sync between devices. Keep your sign-in method secure and tell us if you believe your account has been compromised. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use the Service. You can delete your account at any time in the iPhone app (You, then Delete account) or by emailing support@imbored.fun.
5. Steplock Pro subscriptions
Steplock is free to use with core features. Steplock Pro is an optional, auto-renewing subscription that unlocks additional features (such as unlimited blocked apps and sites, unlimited schedules, earn mode, strict mode and Apple Watch and widget extras).
Plans and prices
- Pro Monthly: €4.99 / $4.99 per month (or local equivalent shown at purchase).
- Pro Yearly: €29.99 / $29.99 per year (or local equivalent shown at purchase), including a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
The price that applies is the one shown to you before you confirm the purchase. Taxes may apply depending on your location.
Auto-renewal
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (month or year) at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trial: if you start a yearly plan with a free trial, you won't be charged during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the trial converts to a paid yearly subscription and you'll be charged the yearly price. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- We will notify you in advance of any price increase, as required by law and by Apple's and Stripe's rules.
Purchases through Apple
If you subscribe in the iPhone app, payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase and the subscription is managed by Apple. You can manage or cancel it in iOS Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com).
Purchases through Stripe (desktop and web)
If you subscribe from the desktop app or website, payment is processed by Stripe. You can cancel any time from "Manage subscription" in the app's settings; you'll keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. By starting Pro immediately you ask us to begin providing the service right away; if you withdraw within 14 days, contact us for a pro-rated refund for the unused part of the period.
Referral credits
Free months earned through invites have no cash value, can't be transferred, and may be withdrawn if obtained through abuse (for example self-referrals or fake accounts).
6. Apple Standard EULA
If you downloaded Steplock from the Apple App Store, your use of the iPhone and Apple Watch apps is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). If the Standard EULA and these Terms conflict regarding the iOS app, the Standard EULA prevails to the extent required. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't: reverse engineer or tamper with it except where the law allows; interfere with its security or infrastructure; access it through automated means other than our apps; abuse referrals or trials; or use it to break the law.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, logo and content, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes in line with these Terms.
9. Disclaimers & liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by blocked or unblocked apps, missed notifications, inaccurate step counts or service interruptions. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and refund any prepaid, unused subscription period purchased through Stripe.
11. General
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the Service afterwards means you accept them. These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in the courts of your country of residence. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
